Flight Sticks....

A long while back, I made some flight sticks for Wings of Glory.  back when I made them, it was Wings of War.  Same game, same fun.  Here are some pictures.   My sticks are in 2, 4, 6, and 8 inch lengths to be able to put the planes at a height better than the ordinary pegs that came with the game.  I now use the pegs as the climb counters.

2, 4, 6 and 8 inch lengths

Level 2 vs Level 4, Very Dramatic.

On His Tail!

I'm always looking for a better way of doing these pegs, or a better, more stable version.

My memory isn't quite what it used to be...

I've hit a snag.  I'm trying to build the new Wings Of Glory  photo realistic battle-map   It's so big, that I'm unable to create it properly since my PC doesn't have the computing power it needs to have.  I keep running out of memory when trying to stitch together a couple images.  Mind you, these images are HUGE.  6000px by 3000px(about a 50 meg file).  This makes for a great quality map for printing, but makes it difficult to create to begin with.

I'll keep plugging away at it.  perhaps a new PC is in my future...

P.S. anyone know what I'd need to stitch together 70 of those images together easily?

Awesome Plot Twist... Or was it?

I just thought of this for my group... however, since I thought of it, and it's really cool, I also decided NOT to implement it..

Too bad it was all a dream and you are all chained up on a wall with a Mind Flayer sucking your memories out.  What you encountered was a fragment of a memory from the past when you were more experienced.  Since he's been sucking memories, you've all dropped to 1st level.  and can now go through your lives all over again, making different choices along the way...

Hence it was all a dream...

Or was it?

Walk of the Dead Scenario 3

Ned might be hot-headed, but he owns an RV.  The camp is surrounded by undead.  The Fed-Ex truck you took to get out of town broke down just short of the base camp and you can’t get it going again.  It’s time to clear the path to the camp, hand to hand if necessary!

This is the map for this scenario.   Note the blue areas on the map.  if you are unfamiliar or need a question answered about the way zones work on my tiles, go here.

This scenario is tough, but includes lots of zombie killing and you need a level head to get through this alive.  let me know how it goes, and if you think it needs tweaking...

Here's the link in case you missed it:  Walking Dead Scenario 3

Rusty...

My second DM session went well.  Except the mapping.  I'm still rusty on things.  I had enough written to fill the night.  But the placing of the tiles was very time consuming.  The players were restless while I searched for the right tile.  Kinda sucked.  I'll be better next session.

But since the 1st lvl group just ended the night after meeting a "large" black dragon, a CR9 creature, it could have gone differently. But they were tasked to get her child back.  What started it all was the fact that they attacked a couple of kobolds they thought were trying to kill a baby black dragon, who were in fact trying to corral it to bring it home.

Capt'n Crunch Time...

It invariably happens.  When I'm DM, I usually draw a blank for the adventure until about a week before it takes place.  THEN the ideas hit.  and they hit with such force it knocks me down and I take 1d6 damage.

Ok, it doesn't hit THAT hard.  but the ideas, once flowing continue until I've got an adventure suitable for 6 players...  Sometimes I need visual clues to prompt me some more on ideas for this room or that.  Sometimes more sterner methods are in order.

Once it's woven, it'll be a good tale...  unless the players go off on a tangent not prepared for....  which they always do...

Plants... of a power nature....

Ok, delving into map making some more....

I've got a test done up....    Here are two images:

I combined them to make the below image.   I hope it looks good.  If it meets with the approval of the masses... I will be using the technique that I did this with to add "targets" to otherwise empty maps.

Let me know what you think!

Swans...?

Ok.  I'm working on a better location and closer zoomed area of the world for a coastal region for my Wings of Glory map.  The map I had been working on shows power lines and towers that cannot be easily gotten rid of.  AND I was zoomed out too far.  I'm supposed to be about 100 meters above the earth, instead, I was a half mile to a mile.   This makes for a grainy image and not very clear.

So I began searching for a new area to make for bombing runs into when I cam across this along the English countryside.

As cool as it is, I can't have that on my map either.....

A different kind of Sea Side...

My D&D version is called Csighd.    This is a real Sea Side.....

This is of the English country side.   I have been hard at work making another map for Wings Of Glory, the Air Combat game from Ares Games.   My primary focus is the First World War.  I wanted to make a map that allows you to recreate bombing runs on England.  Mind you, I'm not going to have a map that takes you into London.  this is as far as you'll get into England.  You just can't make a map from satellite imagery from a place 100 years ago.  Using imagery from today, there are many anomalies on the map, specifically, Giant Power lines crossing the map.   It's tough to find a good area to make a map from, since there is too much modernization of the world.

This area is a good area, It's got a lot going for it.  It's got great areas for bombing, it's even got a nice "road" cutting through the map on the left side that makes for a good railway that can have a train running on it, where the mission is to shoot up the train, stop the supplies from reaching the front line..

The map eventually will be about 8 feet by 10 feet in size.   It'll be broken up into 4 actual maps of about 4 foot by 5 foot in size.  It's also going to be good for the WWII enthusiasts as well.  The detail on the map will be quite amazing.  even if you decide to make it even bigger.   The original map that I made from Dom's map  sized nicely to over 12 feet in width.  and I made it for only 4 foot in size!

A couple things that have to be done before I can even remotely release this imap.... so stay tuned in the coming weeks for it!

Old News...

I know it's old news... but I just learned about it.  This came out a year ago, the french were digging up an area for a new road and discovered a part of a trench used in WWI.  Inside it, preserved perfectly were 21 German soldiers.

Here is a shot of the unearthed trench from WWI....  Amazingly preserved in it's "glory"...

Turn of the century England... had what?!

Working on the new countryside map for Wings of Glory....  I noticed something....

Can you spot the item(s) in the above image that do not belong on a 1915 countryside....?

Yea, I'm going to have to do some editing of the imagery if I'm going to keep it.  Problem is, the items in question are smack in the middle of my newest map.  So yea, difficult.

Gotta remember, it's almost 100 years after WWI.  There's bound to be some things dotting the landscape that need to be removed.   One thing that I've noticed is the whole "Google" watermark is seen on many a field.  That's gotta change too, but within reason.  Copyright laws prohibit changing and removing.

Stay Turned, it may take a while longer than expected due to these setbacks....

Wings of Glory custom battlefields...

My first map was a huge success.  I created it back in 2008.  I created it from a design that came from Domjan Svilkovic, a guy I met on the website boardgamegeek.com. His map of the English countryside is perfect for pretty much either WWI or WWII.   I adjusted it to fit Wings Of War.

Well, the game is now called Wings Of Glory.  And I think I have finally figured out how to create a new map from scratch.  Plus, if I get it right, I can create multiple maps.  However, I'm going to make them exclusive to WWI by creating an area that the maps can combine with each other by being the "No Mans Land". That was common to WWI.    Trenches might be a different idea that I don't know if I can place into the maps.  We'll see how it goes in the coming weeks....

Stay Tuned!

Walk of the Dead Episode 2...

The city is overrun with the dead walking. Josh mentioned of a base camp on the outskirts of the city. He’s made runs into the city many times, but this time it’s different. He’s got Wanda, Ned and Doug with him. He’s never gone with a group before. He also wants to have Phil meet the rest of his group. But the streets are swarming with undead and Ned is being hot headed up on the roof firing his rifle willy-nilly!

Here is the scenario map.  Download the PDF here and let me know what you think of the scenario.  More to come as I look into doing more scenes from the TV show, "The Walking Dead" .

Yes, this also means that I will need make some new tiles for the game!

Richard....

I posted earlier about Richard joining my group in Valla Morr, my campaign world.  We'll, here he is in miniature format..

Base figure is Piazo's "Denizen of Leng" figure.  Modifications are removal of the pony tail, crown, and a new paint job.  Its not the best, but it works.

Check out the antics of Richard here:
